Spring Rains

It's finally begining to be spring like here. On Monday it rained a good part of the day.
So I felt a little gloomy, and wanted to cheer myself up, so I made some springy cards.

This card uses three different products. Can you pick them out?
1 - The Watercolor Wonder Notecard Set
2 - Bootiful Occasions Stamp Set
3 - Rain or Shine Stamp Set.

I cut the notecard is half so that I could make 2 cards. I then created a base of Gumball Green (I am going to miss this color sooo much) and added a layer of Daffodil Delight.
I stamped the boots on white and colored in using Pacific Point marker.
The umbrellas I stamped in Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral. I cut them out and stamped the umbrella handles directly on the card.
The sentiment is stamped on the card also.
A fun and quick card.

Canvas Project

Two months ago hubby and I went on vacation.
We took with us his cousin Jessica and her hubby. It was actually their 20th anniversary vacation, and we tagged along.
Jessica and I are good friends, so it was easy to go on vacation together.

So a cruising we went.
If you have ever been on a cruise, you know that they take about 50 pictures of you and then they try to sell them all to you.
Well they took a good one of Jessica and me, so I did buy it.
It's been sitting in my craft room, and this past weekend I finally grabbed it and got crafty.
I started with a plain white 6x6 canvas that I purchased at a craft store.
I then covered with a coat of gesso and added pacific point blue with an aqua painter
I added the photo at an angle, I just thought it looked better that way.
Next I added some lace to two of the sides.
Finally I cut some whitewashed flowers from the Secret Garden set, and some spiral flowers out of fleece and hot glued them onto the canvas. Oh yeah and some strawberry slush cabochons.
I think it turned out lovely! It now is hanging in front of my work space, so I can remember our fun trip together and they day we spent in Key West.
I hope this inspires you to create something today.

Perfect Blend - Sweater Weather

I love the sweater weather paper.
It just makes me happy.
Luckily I purchased a couple of packs and still have some left over.
I send out a lot of thank you cards, so I wiped up a four pack of these cards to have on hand.
I know spring is coming, but I just can't leave my sweaters just yet.
I stamped the cup on the pattern paper, a piece of ivory natural and white natural. I cut them out and put them together.
I love the look, although I am not a coffee drinker (if you see me at Starbuck's, I am getting a Tall Non-Fat Chai Latte).
The orange stripes in the background are from Gorgeous Grunge.
I hope you enjoyed today's card.

A Thousand Thanks - Wildflower Meadow

Last week was a bad week. I was sick with a head cold.
Some people handle being sick real well, I am not one of them.
So a good friend of mine found out I was sick, told me about some medicine I should take, then went to the store, bought it for me and that's pretty amazing in my book.
So I had to do what I do - make her a card.
I embossed the image with black embossing powder and then used by ink pad to apply the ink colors to the paper using a foam sponge. I used Blushing Bride and Pistachio Pudding. The card base is Pistachio Pudding. I mounted the image on black first, I thought it made the card look richer.
Come back on Saturday for a post using Perfect Blend.

World Map - Manly Birthday

Making cards for men can be tricky. You have to think of manly colors, themes and no flowers. For me that is usually hard. (I love flowers). So when I saw the world map stamp in the annual catalog, I knew that I could come up with some cool manly cards using it.
I started with a base card of Always Artichoke. I then took a piece of scrap natural and covered it with gesso (canvas primer). Once dried I stamped the world map image in black stazon. I then used crumb cake, soft suede, chocolate chip and always artichoke to smudge the surface to create an old map look. I tore the edges and then used a lighter to burn them.

I stamped the True North for the Hello Sailor stamp set on a scrap of natural and smudged too.
The happy birthday was stamped in black stazon direct on the card base.
I created this at church on Saturday, and my Pastor said he wanted it for his birthday, so it passes the man seal of approval!

Another Zoo Babies Card

So as I mentioned on Sunday, there are two ladies at church right now that are pregnant.
One is a good friend of mine, so I spent a good 45 minutes creating this cute card for her upcoming baby shower. Since she attends my card classes, she will appreciate the amount of time used to create this card.
I love the Zoo Babies stamp set. The animals are so much fun. And they for certain scream fun colors. The only bummer is if you want to cut them out, you have to use scissors.
Usually I am not a fan of fussy cutting, but it really wasn't too bad to cut these guys out.
The card ended up being 5.5" x 5.5", so that meant that I needed to make an envelope to fit. Good thing I have an envelope punch board!
So a cute green polka dot envelope to match.
I just know she will love this!

Case This Sketch & Color Throwdown Challenge - Gift for Baby

Yesterday I decided to combine two of my favorite challenge sites into one card.
The Case this Sketch was this -

The Color Throwdown was this -

Here is what I came up with -
I used hexagons instead of the squares and flip the card on it's side.
I used an embossing folder after I adhered the hexagons. I then added shading by using some Crumb Cake ink to emphasize the texture. I stamped the lion from the Zoo Babies set with a sentiment that comes with the set.
When I saw the colors of this week's challenge on CTD, I thought baby!
Well it happens that two ladies at my church are preggers, which means soon I will be having to attend baby showers.
I created both cards yesterday - come back on Tuesday to see the other card I created using the Zoo Babies stamp set.

Butterfly Card - Dare to Dream

Today I am sharing with you a card I made for a dear friend that is going through some emotional times. She needed a little lift me up, so I created this card for her.

The butterflies I created by applying a layer of Gesso to regular cardstock. I dried it using my heat gun. I then used reinkers to color the paper. I stated with Calypso Coral in the middle, Daffodil Delight and the Pistachio Pudding. I used Stazon ink to stamp the images and cut out with my scissors.
I didn't have enough of a piece of paper to stamp 3 full butterflies, so I stamped a 3/4 image and placed so that it looks like the butterfly is flying right off the card.
I hope you like this card.
I created another version using blues that I will be sharing on my facebook group.

Case This Sketch - Thinking of You

When I saw the sketch this week my mind imediately went to a masking card.
I love to mask using die cuts, stencils and just post-its.
Today I used post-its to create the box, embossed the tree and then inked the image.
I really liked the colors from the color throwdown that I used them again. The Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz are a great combo!
I was going to make this a one layer card, but when I went to stamp my sentiment, it was crooked. So I stamped again on a scrap and make a frame for it and popped it up using some dimensionals.
The stamp set used is Thoughts and Prayers. I embossed with Basic Black powder. The card is stamped on Very Vanilla.
Thanks for checking out today's creation.
