Halloween Witch and Punch Art Card

Today I will share with you a card that I recently made for a swap.
The card swap was for fall themed cards, and since I am working on an upcoming punch art class I decided to create a little punch art card.
First step was creating the cauldron. I used the circle and word window punches.

As you can see I cut the top 1/3 off of the circle to create the top of the pot.
Next I put the cauldron together and created the flames coming out using the orange and white twine in the Holiday mini.
This is a view from the back side.
Next I worked on the card base.
I took a piece of smokey slate and embossed the eyes from the Freaky Friends set in white.
Next I used the dot mask and sponged on some basic grey ink.
Then I began to assemble the card. I stamped the witch image and fussy cut around.
I added a strip of DSP with black border, just to add some contrast to the card.
Here is the final card.
I think it turned out pretty spooky!

Catalog Inspiration

Do you have a copy of the SU annual catalog?
I hope so, (but if you don't, email me and I will send you one) because it's got some AWESOME inspiration.
Every page has card, and projects to get your creative juices going.
Well for a task that I needed to do this week, I had to find a card in the catalog and use that for inspiration to make a card, but I had to change the stamp set and paper.
So I flipped and found this card on Page 128.
So I thought, hey that would make a cute manly birthday card, just change the colors and stamp set.
So here is what I created.
Can you see the inspiration?
I hope this will help you look at the catalog in a different way. It's a tool for being creative!

My Paper Pumpkin

Did you know that Stampin' Up has a monthly kit?
It's called My Paper Pumpkin.
It comes once a month in a cute orange box delivered right to your mailbox.
At the beginning, to be honest, I wasn't impressed with it, but then I went to convention and saw all of the amazing changes they have done with the kits.
So I wanted to show you the August kit.
This is a picture of all of the goodies that came in the August box. There were 4 large card bases, 4 small card bases, brads, sequins, envelopes, stamps, ink pad, twine, etc.
Plus there is an instruction sheet with pictures, so you are sure you are getting it done right.
So here are two cards I made using the kit as the directions show you.

BUT the awesome thing is you can also be SUPER creative with the left over pieces!
So here I went a little CRAZY and made a cute card for my hubby. He has been working extra hard around the homestead lately and I just wanted him to know I appreciate it.
SUPER CUTE, RIGHT!!

So until September 10th, SU is giving you an awesome deal to try My Paper Pumpkin. Two kits at 50% off. And if for some reason you don't like it after the two months, you can cancel. You aren't tried down, so why not give it a try?? $20 for two months of crafting fun!
So here's how you do it:

CTD307 & CTS90 Challenge

It's Labor Day, which in the world of the USPS means, day off, but tomorrow will be a nightmare. So I am doing my best to enjoy my paid day off.
So what better way to enjoy then to make some cards!
As you already know I love doing challenges, so I decided today to incorporate two challenges into one card. The Case this Sketch and Color Throwdown challenges.

So I knew the colors and the sketch, but from their I let my creativity go WILD.
I remembered at SU convention, Shelli showed how to make these awesome feathers using a die and punch (I'm not telling here, cause it will spoil it for my September class people).

I created the background paper using the shaving cream and reinkers, but I did use glossy paper. I had some pieces laying around and wanted to see if the effect was different.
So here's my creation
Would love to hear your comments!
Remember the paper bundle sampler going on right now, and make sure you become a follower of my blog, I am going to be drawing at winner October 1st.
