Kinda Eclectic wrapping

Tomorrow is a special anniversary celebration for my pastor and his wife. They are celebrating 34 years of marriage. That's pretty amazing in today's world. I thought about making them a nice card, but really wanted to do something different. So after baking tons of zucchini bread and muffins today I thought, hey I bet they would like some bread!

So I wrapped a loaf up in some press-n-seal and made it pretty of course.

I used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set for the leaves and butterfly. I did do some fussy cutting around the leaves, but didn't get in real close and I like the look it gives. I think it matches the border on the butterfly nicely. I layered 3 butterflies and wrapped the body part with twine, then folded the top two butterflies up to create the look of it actually flying.

The chevron kraft wrapping is a snack bag from the catalog that I cut both ends off and wrapped around the loaf. This was a fun and easy way to spruce up a loaf of bread.

Getting Organized - Or what happens when life gets in the way.

I'm not sure what exactly happened, but here are the circumstances.

1 - We had some trim done in the room, which meant everything had to moved away from the windows.

2 - This project was done 2 weeks before convention when I needed space to create for swaps.

3 - The two weeks before convention my brother and family were in from Maine, so all my extra time was spent being Aunt Annie to my nephew Wilder (who just turned 7 months old).

4 - I then left for convention and was gone 4 days.

Result was this:

So I spent Sunday after church, and Tuesday and Wednesday after work cleaning, clearing, dejunking and all in all purging. The mess is now tamed. Table is back against a wall, not just in front of a closet. All tools are put in their places and chaos has ended.

It was a process, and one I hope I don't have to undertake again soon, so I have made a promise to myself to clean up after every craft extravaganza that happens.

So here is the clean and organized room:

Isn't it so clean. The only bummer is we have a lady coming to pain the room this weekend, so I will probably have to move everything to the center of the room. But at least I will know where everything goes back to. Plus I have never seen this much carpet in this room before. I could probably do some yoga in there now!

Color changes everything

Today I want to talk to you for a minute about color. I love color. 

I think that is one of the reasons why I do SU. They have amazing colors.

When painting your house, choosing a sweater and making a card, think about color.

I created this simple card using two different color cardstock bases, and I think the switch in color really defines the card as girly or not so girly.

 First I created the background by stamping Smokey Slate on a piece of Natural white cardstock. I then stamped the star-burst from Kinda Eclectic in Mossy Meadow. The sentiment is from What's Up as well as the arrow. The punched arrows are from the What's Up punch. So as you can see the card is almost exactly the same, except the base cardstock. Top is Strawberry Slush.

Bottom is Mossy Meadow. I think the change in the cardstock really impacts the overall feel of the card.

So today's lesson. Think about the base of  your card. It can make a card.
